The Pacific Series in Auckland was a beacon of hope during the darker days of the slog to the 33rd Defense.  Ten teams lined up for two weeks of match racing on evenly tuned pairs of ACC yachts.

The Trofeo Desafío Español was the annual regatta of CNEV, too late to legitimize their America's Cup challenge.  Alinghi, TeamOrigin, Luna Rossa, and Desafío Español competed in this three-day event.
