Wednesday 11th February
2009:
Nothing in terms of wind first thing this morning after a night of hot
humid conditions and drizzle. But there's a window of opportunity --
whatever wind that is about will be 3-4 knots from NNW by now (0930 hours)
but it will gradually come around to due North and 8-11 knots by around
1530 and the breeze will freshen to about 12-16 knots by sunset tonight.
It will continue to be hot -- 25 degrees C with some drizzle reducing
visibility and adding to the tropical conditions. Low tide about 1530
which is when I expect the breeze to hopefully fill in. Fingers
crossed... RepCast chance of racing is 50:50...
Thursday 12th February
2009:
Repcast chance of racing is about 70%... it will be even warmer 26 degrees
will be the high and those northerlies will freshen up to 18-20 knots by
1000hrs. High Tide on the Waitemata is 0952hrs and the waves will build.
These will intensify after the tide has turned and the breeze hikes up to
22-25 knots gusting to 27+ knots around squalls. The earlier predicted
heavy rain doesn't appear to be eventuating with more drizzly stuff.
Expect crews and gear to get pushed today for the Challenger Finals.
