European YC Tour for Alinghi

Alinghi, Defender of the 32nd America’s Cup, is visiting Munich, London and Paris this autumn to meet yacht club members, team sponsors and media at the Bayerischer Yacht Club, the Yacht Club de France and slightly differently in London, at the UBS headquarters in Finsbury Avenue, solely for the employees.

This will be an opportunity for sponsors, Yacht Club members and media to catch up with Alinghi ahead of the team relocation to Dubai this winter and before the construction of the second of Alinghi’s two new boats begins at Décision Boatyard in Vevey, Switzerland.

The team members present will be aiming to give a unique insight into the sailor / designer relationship, starting the day with a workshop for the juniors of the Yacht Club, followed by a media point and then later the evening presentation for sponsor guests and Yacht Club members.

First stop:
Bayerischer Yacht Club, Munich – 11 October 2006 Jochen Schuemann, sports director and helmsman, and Rolf Vrolijk, chief designer for Alinghi, will attend to meet the juniors, the media and the guests.

Second stop:
UBS offices in London – 12 October 2006 Brad Butterworth, team skipper and tactician, and Dirk Kramers, chief engineer on the design team, will meet UBS employees and the media.

Third stop :
Yacht Club de France, Paris – 18 October 2006 Christian Karcher, grinder, and Jim Bungener, computational fluid dynamics expert on the design team, will do workshops with Yacht Club members, meet the media and do an evening presentation.
